Their longstanding camaraderie, forged during their early years as Air Traffic Controllers at Washington D.C. Center, evolved into a shared enthusiasm for the burgeoning American microbrewery scene, nurtured by encounters with industry luminaries like Pierre Celis and Michael Jackson. From their initial encounters in the 1980s to their extensive travels through the U.K. and Europe in the 2000s, Jeff and Paul's expertise in brewing and fermentation blossomed, fueling their desire to create a welcoming space like The Hop Shop in Charlotte, where they could share their passion for fine beverages with others. Our amazing General Manager Tam hails from the great state of Ohio. A former art teacher, Tam continues to curate art for local galleries and privately teaches pottery techniques to various students. She can often be found sipping on a Belgian beer, preferably a St. Bernardus Abt 12.
